Private's Blockbuster SEX CITY Tops the AVN Charts

Private’s latest and largest blockbuster movie ever, SEX CITY, directed by the great Pierre Woodman, holds the number one position on the AVN charts after being in the top ten for the last four weeks.

The legendary director, Pierre Woodman, expressed “that he couldn’t be happier with the outcome and that Private helped him make it happen�.

Private Media Group and the famous director of adult cinema wanted to create a movie that was even bigger than GLADIATOR (the biggest selling adult hard core movie of all time) and with SEX CITY they may just do that.

In naming “Sex Cityâ€� an Editor’s Choice, AVN says “Director Pierre Woodman, whose name used to be synonymous with Private, returns to the fold with this superbly mounted feature, frankly "inspired by" the mainstream movie Sin City.  Fans of the filmization of Frank Miller’s graphic novel will find themselves in familiar territory. Woodman expertly adapts its hard-boiled attitude, violent action and stylized visuals. 

This first episode clocks in at three hours, and there are two more to come, making it a virtual mini-series. So far it’s an impressive one, with a huge cast, many locations (mostly in Prague but with some New York exteriors), special effects and all kinds of technical trickery. 

Like the original, most of movie is black and white with only one or two objects—a girl’s lips, a bra, a dildo—in color. When people start fucking, however, full color returns for most of the scene. The color changes, from none to partial to full, are expertly done.�

Rog Reviews.com also commented that “the visual style of this movie is nothing short of stunning. It’s an early favorite for best art director, editing and a few dozen other awards. It is quite common to see an adult film pattern itself after a mainstream hit, but exceptionally rare for one to capture the feel of the original like this one does.�

With high expectations the second part of the Sex City Trilogy, Private’s biggest production to date, is due to be released next month, August.
